Whoosh! My fire spell hit the dragon straight into the heart. It swayed for a moment, its eyes rolling into the back of its head, and fell down into the ground
"Ha!" I cheered in victory. The dragon quivered its last breath and dissolved into purple mist that swirled around me and plunged into my heart. I pumped my fist in the air and shouted, "New power-up!"
Rex shook his head, "You lucky bitch," he said, his e-con smiling at me. I couldn't help but blush. Rex was the master; but now, I was one step closer to suppressing him.
In real life, I leaned back on my chair, satisfied with my accomplishment, and I adjusted my earphone a bit. I took a glance outside my little window. The cul-de-sac was quiet as usual, the sun slowly beginning to meet the mountaintops in the distance. I'd been playing Quest Hearts for 6 hours today, and I had no intentions of stopping. In game, the adventure was always waiting to complete, and the quests were always challenging and exhilarating. The players were always accepting, and the people and villains in the game were always interesting and complex creatures. No wonder a high schooler like me could never get off the computer.
I checked out my stats. Username: Callierama69. Nickname: Call. Creature: Human. Level 499 (no wait, scratch that, I just upgraded to a Level 500), wizard type, a heck load of potions and remedies in my treasury, and high health and energy bars. I was doing great today. I clicked out of there and turned to my two companions next to me. "So you guys wanna head back to town?" I asked. "Pix said she would meet up with us there."
The ogre warrior nodded. Username: SparkRoller127. Nickname: Spark. Creature: Ogre. Level 500, warrior type. And the strongest creature of our group. "Yes, please," he replied in a gravely monotone accent.
"Sounds good to me," Rex replied in his cool British accent, and he gave me the thumbs up. Username: Rxlor123678. Nickname: Rex. Creature: Goblin. Level 500, wizard type. My mentor and my best friend, in game that is.
We turned back and started heading back down the trail. We were in Green Goblin's Forest, a beautiful lush green world, kinda like Avatar, only with a few high-tech skyscrapers that looked like mountains scattered here and there, and trees and creatures that looked cybernetic. But it was still breath taking, even if you've gone missions in here for about a thousand times. All the worlds were breath taking. The creators spent a lot of money, and time and effort to make the game as real as possible. If only the real world were as this gorgeous, then were would be no global warming crap. Actually, there wouldn't be any real issues at all. The only concerns would be the giant metal wasps and finding hidden collectables in the deep mining caves.
Spark walked ahead of Rex and I, watching out for anyone planning a surprise attack, his club saber (a weapon that was half club and half light saber) raised above his head. Rex and I walked behind him, our weapons ready for anything (in this game, you don't know who or what's gonna come at you; on my first time questing, these gremlins jumped out of nowhere, and killed me. Twice. Now I never walk alone and I always carry a weapon).
"Nice job on the power-up, Call," Rex quipped, his bow and arrow ready to strike anything in our way, "you've really improved since the last time you fought a dragon. You've gotten so much better!"
"Thanks!" I smiled a dazzling smile at Rex's goblin. "I've been playing a lot lately. All that time has been worth it!"
Rex whistled in admiration, "Yeah, it's showing really well! Of course, Pix is going to be so jealous! Wait till I tell it to her smug face!"
"Not until I tell her first!" I pushed his goblin to a tree, and paced up towards Spark, but then Rex pushed me hard, so hard that I almost fell. I blasted Rex with a paralyzing spell, but I missed, and hit a wolf that had been hiding in the bushes behind Rex and was leaping into the air. The wolf dropped to the ground, and all we three could do was stare.
"Wow," Rex gazed at the wolf, "I don't know if I should say 'bad aim' or 'good aim'"
I picked Rex from the ground, and we began to run, in case Wolfie had friends.
"Good or bad, you gotta admit that was a pretty good shot!" I puffed my chest up. "I've been spending a lot of time on perfecting my spells"
"Too much time, it seems." Spark muttered.
I was surprised by Spark's remark. "What do you mean?" I questioned him.
"How much time do you play, Call?" Spark asked.
I hesitated before speaking, "A few hours."
"Ha!" Rex laughed, "More like days! Everyday when I log on, you're the first person I see on my list of friends that are online. It's like you live here or something!"
I squirmed in my seat, an uncomfortable feeling I get in my gut beginning to grow again. "Yeah," I muttered, "Something like that."
The earplug was silent, like they were waiting for me to say something else, but I just made a shrugging e-con and ran ahead to take lead. Truth is, I have been living here. In my room, that is, for maybe about a week. Taking a swing of a liter of Pepsi while my avatar ran ahead, I swung my chair around to scan the trashcan I call my room. The room was filled with take-out cartons, pizza boxes, and empty bottles of soda, and it was really making a stench in here. Except to use the bathroom, and to get the door for delivery, I really never leave my room. There's a Japanese term for what I am. Hikikomori. When a person isolates himself or herself in their home and from society. People think that it really just happens in Japan. The truth is that they're Hikikomori everywhere. Even in America, the "greatest" country in the world. Where everyone is free to do or say anything, and we all get along, like one big happy family. Bull. Society is full of people who don't care and don't try to. I should know. I'm a Hikikomori. That's what we're supposed to think. Or at least I believe so. But that's the opinion of one 15 year old girl, right?
To my relief, I saw the gate to Town Square up ahead. And at that same moment, a message popped up in the top right corner that PixyGrl333 had just logged on.
"I hope you do not stay too silent Call" Spark grumbled, "it would be very uncomfortable to hear you not being stubborn."
I rolled my eyes and made my character shake her head. "Inside guys," I instructed. "Her Royal Hackerness has just arrived in town."
We ran straight into the gate, all while Rex chuckled, "'Her Royal Hackerness'"?
So this is another potential novel I'm working on. The inspiration for this one comes from all the RPGs I've ever witnessed. And not played. Only rarely do I play any sort of video game. But I admire RPGs a lot, mostly because of all the quests and things you have to collect and whatever.
Actually, I'm playing Queen's Crown on my Ipod right now, so I AM an RPG player. Yes!
The current title of this one is Sail, for a character that will appear later in the story, but for now, this is what it's called. Now this is the one thing I'm working on that has surprisingly gone on for a while. I'm still at the beginning, yeah, but I made it to page 12! That's an all-new record!
Hope you guys will enjoy this one. Might put up the next part if people want to see it or whatever.
Please support this, enjoy, and keep writing!

A story of an RPG.. interesting! Really that's thinking outside the box :)
At first I honestly thought it was a table-top, only figured out it was online when she mentioned the computer hahahah
Good job! I'll read the rest soon.
